Earth Tongues in Ink

Here is another addition to my future zine! So far this year I have been swamped with research, thesis writing, and teaching but I'm so proud of myself for still making time to draw and go on adventures. *Pats self on the back*

During my first trip to Big Basin [Part I and Part II] I came across what looked like little black worms emerging from the leaf litter. I'm a little surprised that I noticed them, because they're no bigger than my pinky and they can easily be overlooked while scanning the forest floor. I guess my sighting skills are really improving! Anyway, I snapped some photos, flipped through Mykoweb and my reference books and identified them as earth tongues.*

*Just a note, when I revise this drawing I am going to replace "black earth tongues" with "earth tongues." Microglossum viride are actually more of a dark green but at the time of spotting them they appeared black (most likely because I was in a low-lit area as well).
